Who will win Sunday's Big Game? Our super scientific CPG & retail prediction

Posted by Gina Joseph on January 31, 2017

Football.jpgThis Sunday the New England Patriots will battle the Atlanta Falcons for the title of NFL Champion. Whether you watch it for the sport, for the commercials, or for the party food, the Super Bowl is always a nice little break from the daily grind. But since we’re in the CPG and Retail industry, we thought it would be fun to create a "SuperBrand Bowl" (get it?) based on a few of the biggest CPG manufacturers and retailers headquartered in Massachusetts and Georgia. Who will win? Let’s take a look:

Ocean Spray (Lakeville-Middleborough, MA) Vs. Coca-Cola (Atlanta, GA)

Mmm nothing like refreshing beverage to wash down those chicken wings and massive amounts of chips and guac. We’re thinking a cold soda will be more popular than a juice drink like Ocean Spray at most game day parties.

Winner: Coca-Cola

Dunkin Donuts (Canton, MA) Vs. Waffle House (Norcross, GA)

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. While we appreciate a delicious waffle just as much as the next guy, we’re going to give this one to Dunkin Donuts, since they are literally on every street corner everywhere, making it super easy to find a quick bite on the way to work. Plus, Munchkins.

Winner: Dunkin Donuts

HomeGoods (Framingham, MA) Vs. Home Depot (Atlanta, GA)

Both of these large retailers have “home” in the name. One sells home décor and furniture items, and the other sells anything you need for home improvement. Both come in handy when buying a new house - but as anyone who has ever owned knows, Home Depot is a necessity in those first few months (years?) of home ownership.

Winner: Home Depot

Based on our super scientific research here, we’re going to predict the Falcons take home the V on Sunday. It’s too bad the Chicago Bears weren’t in the bowl this year. We’d definitely go with KraftHeinz (Chicago, IL) for the win – Monday after Super Bowl off, anyone?
