Halloween is a big deal in retail standards—this year consumers are expected to spend $9.1 billion on costumes, candy and Halloween décor according to a survey by the National Retail Federation, up from $8.4 billion in 2016. It also serves as a kickoff of sorts to the major holiday buying season.
